The California Garden
California Agriculture
Closely related to the history of California’s cultural diversity, is her agriculture.  California has some of the
richest farmland in the United States.  It grows diverse crops, from avocados to dates, wheat to chayotes.
Part of The Garden’s focus will be to illustrate and bring alive the state’s rich agricultural history.  California
leads the nation in organic farming techniques and sustainable/regenerative agriculture.  Demonstration
gardens will inform the public and provide fresh organic produce to The Garden’s restaurants
.
California Heritage
Each culture has its own story.
The California Garden will be a place for them to be told to the world.
It would be hard to name a place with greater diversity than California.
The Garden will celebrate California’s diverse environments and the
indigenous and immigrant groups that have melded together to form her rich
and unique heritage.
Demonstrated within The Garden will be the impact of these groups’
contributions on our plants, agriculture, technologies, culture, culinary and
medicinal traditions, our land, and the economy.
